KILMARNOCK has been named one of the top 10 areas in Scotland most likely to win the Postcode Lottery.
The town, with the postcode KA, ranks seventh overall, boasting an average of 13.63 wins per postcode district.
This is according to new research by casino experts at VIP Grinders, who analysed the total number of Postcode Lottery wins across each area of Scotland as of October 2024.
The total number of wins was divided by the number of postcode districts in each area to reveal those with the highest average number of wins.
Kilmarnock's 30 postcode districts have collectively won 409 times.
Motherwell in North Lanarkshire was found to be the luckiest area for Postcode Lottery wins, with an impressive 30.17 average wins per postcode district.
The town’s 12 postcode districts have had 362 wins.
Dundee in Angus takes second place, with 27.45 average wins per postcode district, having 11 postcode districts and a total of 302 wins.
Kirkcaldy (KY) in Fife comes in third, with an average of 20.13 wins across its 16 postcode districts, totalling 322 wins.
Telma Casaca, head of publishing at VIP Grinders, said: "It’s fascinating to see the different areas across Scotland that seem to be most likely to win the Postcode Lottery, especially with prizes reaching up to £500,000.
"While the postcodes are chosen using a random algorithm to make the outcome unpredictable, it’s interesting to see such a big difference in how often postcodes in certain districts are drawn.
"One reason why areas like Motherwell and Dundee could have seen more wins is the number of players registered in each postcode.
"If a higher number of people enter from the same postcode, they have a better chance of winning the Postcode Millions prize compared to just one person entering alone.
"However, this doesn’t apply to other prizes in the Postcode Lottery.
"So, if certain postcode sectors have better-than-average luck with the £30,000 prize, it’s likely because there are more individual postcodes registered in that area than other areas in Scotland."
