A WORLD famous chef tasted some traditional Scottish cooking at one of Ayr's oldest pubs.
Rick Stein and a guest enjoyed a meal cooked by the pub's head chef Sheena Donaldson over the weekend.
The 77-year-old CBE recipient runs the Stein hotel and restaurant business in the UK, and writes cookery books alongside presenting numerous cookery series for the BBC.
A pub spokesperson said: "It was an absolute honour and pleasure to welcome one of the best chefs in the world to The Tam O'Shanter Restaurant this weekend.
"Rick Stein and guest enjoyed a traditional Scottish lunch made by our head chef, Sheena Donaldson, and served by Kimberley and Kodi, our fabulous front of house staff.
"The Tam O'Shanter Inn and Restaurant, definitely the place to be. Haste ye back Rick!!"
The pub later revealed that he ate the haggis, neeps and tatties and chicken and leek pie, and he "cleared his plate".
