A WOMAN has died after a fatal crash in East Ayrshire yesterday morning.
Police are appealing for information after the accident on the A71 between Newmilns and Darvel on Thursday.
The incident happened at around 11.05am on October 17 and involved a red Ford Focus Zetec and a silver Mercedes Vito.
Emergency services attended and a 27-year-old woman, the driver of the Ford, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 24-year-old man, a passenger in the Ford, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Mercedes, a 52-year-old man, was taken to Crosshouse University Hospital in Kilmarnock with non-life-threatening injuries.
The road was closed for around 10 hours for crash investigation work and re-opened around 9pm.
Sergeant Martin Cunningham said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who died at what is a difficult time for all.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances, and we are asking anyone who saw what happened to get in touch.
“In particular, if you were driving in the area at the time please check your dash-cam to see if you have anything that could help with our investigation.”
