A 29-year-old man from the Kilmarnock area has been arrested and charged following an incident on a train back in May.

British Transport Police had released an image of a man they believe may have been able to assist their enquiries into an incident which took place on Thursday, May 23 within the Scotrail train travelling from Glasgow Central to Kilmarnock.

Officers believed that the male may have information that could assist them with their investigation, and urged the man shown or any members of the public who recognised him to contact them.

Officers have now confirmed that a 29-year-old will appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Thursday, August 29.

A police spokesperson added: "We are not looking to identify anyone else. Thank you for sharing our appeal."
