Talented young dancers from across Ayrshire could be taking to the stage in this year's Kilmarnock pantomime.
As East Ayrshire Leisure gets ready to bring the Goldilocks and the Three Bears to the town this festive season, a call has been put out for dancers aged between nine and 16 and in school years P5-S4 to perform on stage in the Junior Ensemble.
This year the children have a truly unique opportunity as, due to the current refurbishment of the Palace Theatre, the panto has moved to a spectacular big top circus tent.
The open auditions will be hosted on Saturday, August 24 at St Joseph’s Leisure Centre.
Eric Potts, Artistic Director of Imagine Theatre, says “Appearing in panto is always an exciting opportunity for children but this year it is even more exciting as it is a rare opportunity for children to have the experience of performing in one of the legendary Chipperfield circus tents.”
“The tent is going to be fully heated as are the changing rooms, so it will feel as if we were working in an actual building and not a tent. It is going to be very comfortable and very exciting for both the cast and the audiences.”
The auditions will see the youngsters learn a routine and perform as a group to an audition panel.
Any child of the right age regardless of their experience can attend to try out for the show.
If you think you’ve got what it takes to bring that little bit extra to this year’s pantomime you can find out more about the auditions, including further information on age and attendance requirements, at www.eastayrshireleisure.com or www.imaginetheatre.co.uk.
