AN EAST Ayrshire has been fined £500 after an investigation into fly-tipping in Kilmarnock.

Officials from East Ayrshire Council's environmental crime team issued the fixed penalty notice following the incidents in the Bonnyton area.

A council spokesperson said: "We rely on reports from members of the public to help us detect and deter instances of fly-tipping and to help keep East Ayrshire Clean Green and Vibrant.

"Our communities can report fly-tipping online at https://eastayrshi.re/flytipping.

"The council would urge anyone who wants to dispose of excess household waste to ensure they are complying with the law.

"The council operates an appointment system at our household waste sites, which ensures easy access without having to queue.

"Alternatively, if you are using a contractor you must ensure that they are registered as a waste carrier with SEPA and can provide you with a waste transfer note detailing the legal disposal route they will take your waste."
