POLICE have launched an appeal for information after a car was deliberately set on fire in Kilmarnock.

The Range Rover vehicle was set alight in the town's Edradour Place at around 1.40am on Friday, May 24.

Emergency services attended, the fire was extinguished and there were no reports of injuries.

The incident is being treated as wilful and officers are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Officers are keen to trace a male who was seen acting suspiciously at the time. He is described as wearing dark clothing and reflective trainers.

Detective Constable John Cuthbert said: "The fire was set alight while the vehicle was parked within the driveway of a house and caused considerable alarm to the householder.

"I would urge anyone with information about what happened to speak to officers.

"If you were in the Edradour Place area at the time and saw anything suspicious or have CCTV or dashcam footage which may have captured something of significance then please contact us."
