A school crossing patroller working in East Ayrshire has received a major council award.

Arthur Aldred received the Customer Service Excellence Award at last week’s East Ayrshire Employee Awards.

Nominations for the award came from members of the public in East Ayrshire communities and Arthur received an incredible 55 nominations.

He was nominated for the way in which he takes a real pride in his work, ensures the safety of children and makes a real effort to brighten everyone’s day.

A council spokesperson said: "Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote!"
