A man has admitted an assault in a busy Kilmarnock pub.
Jonathan Poole, 29, of West Langlands Street in the town, pleaded guilty to carrying out the assault at the First Edition on Bank Street on April 1.
Poole had been charged with assaulting a man and repeatedly punching him to the head, causing him to fall to the ground to his severe injury.
At a hearing at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court, Sheriff Nicola Patrick said she would require background reports because of the "serious nature" of the offence.
Sentence was deferred to a later date and Poole was released on bail.
