Plans have been revealed for 14 new electrical vehicle charging points in a busy Kilmarnock retail park.

SSE is looking to install the EV charging stands alongside infrastructure including CCTV, bollards, a substation and underground cabling.

The charging points would be located to the side of the ASDA superstore in the town's Queen's Drive Retail Park.

The proposed development would lead to a reduction of two car parking spaces, but the company says there are more than enough spaces elsewhere in the retail park.

Three of the electric bays would be accessible, with SSE saying the development is "minor in nature".

Planning documents state: "Due to the limited nature of the proposals, the proposals will have no detrimental effect on the amenity of the surrounding uses and occupiers, with no residential or sensitive receptors local to the site.

Ayrshire Today:

"The proposed CCTV cameras, which have a variable field of view, do not raise any privacy or overlooking concerns.

"The CCTV will be angled to only afford views of the site including the charging bay areas, substation and site boundary."
