A man has been arrested and charged following reports of "suspicious activity" at a disused building in Kilmarnock. 

Police were called to the town's busy King Street around midday on Saturday, with a 31-year-old later charged for attempted theft, drugs offences and a breach of bail.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 12.25pm on Saturday, April 6, police were called to a report of suspicious activity at a disused premises in King Street, Kilmarnock.

“Officers attended and a 31-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with attempted theft, drugs offences and breach of bail.

“He was due to appear before Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Monday, April 8, and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
