East Ayrshire Council and Police Scotland have carried out license checks on window cleaners in Kilmarnock during a two-day operation.

A total of 18 individuals were interviewed, with eight of those discovered to be operating without a valid licence.

The initiative between the council's licencing standards team and Police Scotland was designed to ensure that window cleaners possess the necessary licences and adhere to current legislation.

A council spokesperson said: "The objective is to protect consumers, promote lawful enterprises, and uphold high standards within the window cleaning industry in East Ayrshire.

"The licensing standards officers and police will continue to monitor the situation to resolve any issues.

"It is recommended that residents only employ licensed window cleaners to guarantee high-quality service and safeguard consumer rights."
