An Ayrshire care home has received high praise from the Care Inspector, the national care services regulator.

The services by Priory Newhouse, which cares for individuals with learning disabilities and autism, were rated as ‘good’ and ‘very good’ across all categories, while their leadership was given a 'good' rating.

The home, located on Galston Road just outside Hurlford, caters to 22 adults, some of whom also require support for physical health conditions.

Fiona McAtee, service manager at Priory Newhouse, said: "We're proud to support a truly wonderful group of residents here at Newhouse.

"The team here give everything, every day, to support people to live their life.

"It's great to see this work recognised by inspectors."

The "warm and compassionate relationships between people living in Newhouse and the staff who supported them" were also observed in the report.

The leadership at Priory Newhouse was praised for fully implementing feedback from a previous visit last year along with refinements to their safeguarding procedures.

The report further noted that "staff had received training regarding protecting vulnerable people and were aware of their role and responsibilities regarding keeping people safe."

The care home is run by Priory, a health and adult social care service provider for people with mental health support needs.

Rebekah Cresswell, chief executive officer at Priory, said: "This report demonstrates how kind and compassionate the team at Newhouse are and is a testament to the excellent leadership team at the home.

"The difference they are making to people's lives is enormous and we're proud of the positive impact they're having."
