AN ENERGETIC Ayrshire woman is taking on the Manchester marathon later this month in aid of the Ayrshire Hospice.

Amy Quinn will tackle the 26-mile route to raise funds for the charity, who looked after her dad Tommy several years ago.

She is taking on her first ever marathon, and has put everything into her training to help support the hospice's vital work.

She said: “My dad Tommy Church was in the care of the Ayrshire Hospice from December 19, 2022 until he sadly passed away on January 13, 2023.

"Dad was so very grateful to absolutely everyone there who helped and looked after him daily after his diagnosis.

"Throughout this time, in his usual way, he continued to smile, maintain his sense of humour and show compassion to those who were helping him.

"With this in mind, I would be truly grateful for donations, no matter how small, in support of the hospice and in dad's memory.

"I will do my best to make dad proud, completing my training and the 26.2 miles to raise funds in gratitude to everyone at the hospice for the wonderful care and support they continue to give to all patients and their families.”

Amy will hit the streets of the city for the race, which starts and finishes near Old Trafford, on Sunday, April 14.
