The most popular baby names across Ayrshire last year have been revealed.
The National Records of Scotland has revealed the top names for boys and girls out of all births registered in the country in 2023.
Across Scotland, Luca proved to be the most popular name for boys, with Isla topping the charts for girls.
In North Ayrshire, Isla did indeed prove to be the most popular, with Luca, Alfie, Freddie and Noah sharing the top spot for the boys.
In East Ayrshire, Ava proved most popular among parents of new baby girls, with Luca getting the nod for the boys.
South Ayrshire girls were most likely to be called Maya, with Harris the most popular boy's name in the authority.
NRS Statistician Phillipa Haxton said: "National Records of Scotland is pleased to welcome all of Scotland’s bundles of joy in 2023.
"There are more names in use today than there were in previous generations. The number of different names for boys reached a new all-time high in 2023, as did the number of unique names given to only one child in the year.
"The same pattern was observed for girls’ names, and the variety of names given to girls is still greater than for boys."
New entrants in the top 100 names for 2023 include Oakley and Mabel.
