A Kilmarnock charity boss has been honoured with an OBE in a special ceremony in Edinburgh.

Dr Fiona McKenzie, the founder of popular charity CentreStage, was awarded her OBE at an investiture ceremony at Holyrood Palace.

Dr McKenzie, who founded the arts academy in 2006, was presented with her award by the Princess Royal.

A CentreStage spokesperson said: "All of the team at CentreStage are immensely proud of Fiona and we are delighted that her outstanding services in the local community have been recognised in this most special way."

The charity currently runs a host of activities, events and shows from its modern home at the former Kilmarnock Academy building.
