A brand new rally festival is set to drift into Craufurdland Castle near Kilmarnock next year.

The first of the Lombard Rally series of historic car events will come to the area on August 31 and September 1, 2024.

The rally was once one of the UK's biggest sporting events, and sees historic rally cars driven under controlled conditions around a rally style circuit.

Spectators can look out for cars from the 1960s to the 1990s such as Minis, Cortinas, Hillman Avengers, Talbot Sunbeams and Escort Cosworths, plus much more.

A spokesperson said: "At Craufurdland Castle a selection of historic rally cars will be demonstrated on a route with mixed surface, some gravel and some tarmac.

"We will be bringing hero champion rally drivers from the past from both Scandinavia and Scotland to Kilmarnock to both drive cars reproducing their competitive period and to tell some stories about their rallying exploits.

"On Saturday evening the drivers will attend a social event at the Laird’s Table near the Castle to tell tales of winning rallies, dragging cars to the finish of rallies that really should not have got there and much more.

"Static displays of sports and classic cars will sit opposite the Castle, with catering and other stalls also in place."

Early bird reduced price tickets are now on sale, giving entry and parking for a car and four occupants at £40.
