Ayrshire roads policing officers will be carrying out checks this month as part of their festive drink and drug driving campaign.

On Monday morning, officers were in Kilmarnock where 30 vehicles were stopped and safety checks were carried out.

Advice was given to several drivers regarding their tyres and one female was issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice for a tyre with the cord exposed.

One male was also issued with a FPN for driving with a dangerous load.

A spokesperson said: "Road safety remains a priority for Police Scotland and officers continue to patrol our roads 24/7 to improve driver behaviour and detect those who put others at risk by driving under the influence of drink or drugs.

"Remember you can be tested for drink and drugs at the roadside so #DontRiskIt this festive season."
