The floodgates for the Kilmarnock Water have now closed for the winter season, and are set to reopen next year. 

The floodgates at Burnside Street and Fairyhill Road in the town are due to reopen in late February 2024. 

The gates are shut for the safety of pedestrians who may use the bridges to cross the Kilmarnock Water, which is higher during the winter season.
