POLICE have vowed to continue to tackle drug misuse and dealing within Ayrshire.

It comes as East Ayrshire police confirmed that two people had been reported for "various drugs offences" during a day of action in Kilmarnock.

Priority policing officers executed warrants on two streets within the town on Thursday, November 9, during the day as they looked to concentrate on "disrupting drug supply".

After executing these warrants on Fullarton Street and Hill Street, two persons, aged 30 and 48, were arrested for various alleged offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.

While local police have looked to assure the public that they will continue to target such offences.

Inspector Iain Farmer said: "Drug misuse and dealing within the Ayrshire community remains a priority for the police, and you have told us that this is an area of concern.

"We continue to work with the community and partners to identify those concerned.

"Drug misuse and addiction can be a vicious circle for people, and we explore all options to not only put in place punitive measures but also identify linear routes to get those within that circle the help that they need.

"I encourage the local community to continue to reach out to the police with any concerns that they may have within their community by contacting 101 or CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111."
