A Kilmarnock councillor has hailed initial improvements to Kilmarnock Bus Station as a £4million refurbishment nears its conclusion.
Four stances at the north end of the concourse have recently reopened to the public after being upgraded as part of the works.
The project, funded by Strathclyde Partnership for Transport, includes accessibility and safety improvements, lighting, shelter and comfort along with new technology for electric bus charging.
On a recent visit to the station, Kilmarnock East and Hurlford councillor Graham Boyd has lauded the latest progress.
He said: "Passed through the bus station and was pleasantly surprised to see the upgrade of the faraway four stances have opened.
"It’s much cleaner (wouldn’t be difficult), brighter and open. Better seats & glass partitions at each stance too and live time information.
"No sign of bins yet, I’m now off to contact Ayrshire Roads Alliance and Clean Green East Ayrshire to request they are in place as soon as possible."
