Ayrshire residents eligible for the latest cost-of-living payment are being warned to be wary of scams.
Anyone who is eligible for the payment does not need to apply, and the money will be paid automatically between October 31 and November 19 in the same way they normally receive benefits of tax credits.
Police Scotland is urging people receiving the benefit to be on the lookout for scammers, who may pose as officials asking them to 'apply' for the payment.
A spokesperson said: "Be suspicious of any cold call, message or letter asking you to 'apply' for the payment, as it will likely be a scam.
"If you receive such a communication, do not click on any links or provide any details.
"The Department for Work and Pensions will never ask for your personal details via text message or email."
