TWO community councils in East Ayrshire are on the lookout for new members to help shape local life.

Deadlines have been set for the next few weeks for applications to join the groups in the village of Ochiltree and in Bonnyton, Kilmarnock.

If you live within either area and want to make a positive impact, then consider becoming a community councillor.

In Ochiltree, nominations must be received by November 6. If more applications are received than there are vacancies available, a vote will be held to elect candidate on November 20 at 7pm in Ochiltree Community Hub.

In Bonnyton, nominations must be received by October 31 and a vote, if one is required, will take place in Bonnyton Community Centre at 7pm on November 7.

To be able to stand for, or vote in, either election, members of the public must be listed in the Electoral Register for the area of the community council and be aged 16 or over.
