KILMARNOCK'S Odeon cinema has now re-opened following a brief period of closure.

The popular picture house closed unexpectedly yesterday, Monday October 16, with a notice placed on the entrance on Queen's Drive.

Bosses say that it was a "facilities issue" which saw the venue close, alongside the Costa Coffee which operates inside.

It is the second period of sudden closure of the cinema within a year, after the Odeon had to shut up shop last December following an issue with the heating system.

However, the closure period was short-lived on this occasion, with the cinema doors open once again this morning, Tuesday October 17, after the issue - which was not detailed further - was resolved.

An Odeon spokesperson said: “Due to a facilities issue, Odeon Kilmarnock was closed yesterday. The issue has been resolved and the cinema is now open and operating as usual.

"We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused by the closure.”
