A Kilmaurs Scout will head to Norway next year for the adventure of a lifetime.
Hamish Bradshaw, 15, is set to represent the UK at Roverway 2024 - a European Scout event set on the beautiful fjord coastline.
The event is a gathering of 5,000 Scouts aged 16 to 22 from across Europe for hiking, camping and adventure.
Hamish will journey across Southern Norway for five days, with an international camp at Stavanger followed by a ferry trip to visit Copenhagen in Denmark.
The teen, who attends the Tiger Explorer Scout Unit, hopes it will be an experience to remember.
He said: "I love hiking, I always have. Hiking will be a huge part of Roverway 2024, and I am expecting the best experience I’ve ever had.
"I love meeting new people and getting to know people, it makes it interesting if you only have a matter of days to do this, but I enjoy it, and have been doing so throughout my life.
"The camp at the end of Roverway would be a perfect opportunity to meet likeminded people and share our passions, while having the time of our lives.
"I am looking forward to gaining a personal satisfaction that I know previous Roverway participants have got when they completed their adventure.
"We will be going into an unknown area, with unknown people, but with a known plan. I am excited by this and think I’ll do it well."
The 550 UK Scouts at the event will be supported by over 100 volunteers, and they will join 5,000 other Scouts from almost every European nation to embark on 15 days of adventure, fun, and learning skills for life.
Chief Scout Bear Grylls, added: "A massive congratulations to Hamish who has been selected to represent the UK at Roverway 2024.
"Roverway is an amazing opportunity to discover yourself and make new friends, whilst participating in a programme that demonstrates true Scouting spirit by developing skills for life.
"I’d just like to say good luck to our brilliant UK Contingent in their reparation for the event.
"They will be heading off on the trip of a lifetime to a beautiful destination in Stavanger."
Roverway will take place from July 22 to August 2 next year, with a special event just for the UK contingent in Copenhagan from August 2 to 5.
