Two South Ayrshire footballers were on hand to play a starring role as Kilmarnock kicked off their Europa League qualifying campaign with a draw.

Prestwick's David Watson popped up with the all important equaliser as Killie came from behind to secure a draw against Cercle Brugge ahead of the away leg in Belgium next Thursday.

Watson got the final touch on Kyle Vassell's header to send Rugby Park rocking as the home side deservedly earned a draw against their more expensively assembled opponents from the Belgian top flight.

Dailly native Robbie McCrorie was also in fine form between the sticks for Killie, pulling off several impressive saves, especially in the first half.

It was a first competitive game in a Kilmarnock shirt for McCrorie, who signed in the summer and was thrust straight into an Ayrshire derby friendly against Ayr United.

The pair will hope to star again at the Jan Breydel Stadium next week, backed by a sold-out 2,500 contingent from East Ayrshire.
