With Christmas fast approaching, schools across Ayrshire are gearing up for the festive school holidays.
Over late December and early January, schools in the region are closed to give students and teachers a break before the start of the new semester.

When will schools in Ayrshire break up for the Christmas holidays?
See when schools in North, South and East Ayrshire will close for the Christmas school holidays.
North Ayrshire
Schools in North Ayrshire (Including Arran) will close on Friday, December 20, 2024. The holiday period will officially run from Monday, December 23, 2024 until Friday, January 3, 2025.
Students will return to class on Monday, January 6, 2025. This will be the beginning of the second school term.
South Ayrshire
South Ayrshire schools will similarly close on Friday, December 20, 2024. The holiday period will also officially run from Monday, December 23, 2024, until Friday, January 3, 2025.
Students will return to class on Monday, January 6, 2025, marking the beginning of the second school term.

East Ayrshire
As is the case for the other council areas, East Ayrshire will close on Friday, December 20, 2024. The holiday period will officially run from Monday, December 23, 2024, until Friday, January 3, 2025.
Students will return to class on Monday, January 6, 2025. This will also mark the beginning of the second semester for schools in the local authority.
