A MAJOR coffee company has confirmed its plans to open a store in Ayr.

Starbucks say they are "looking forward" to bringing their brand to the town, but have not confirmed an opening date.

The chain is thought to be eying up a currently vacant unit inside Ayr Central shopping centre.

A Starbucks spokesperson said: “We’re looking forward to bringing the Starbucks experience to customers in Ayr and will be in touch once we have more specific plans to share.”

The brand has a host of other outlets across Ayrshire, including inside Sainsbury's supermarket in Prestwick.

The coffee chain was founded in 1971 and has expanded across the world, with franchises in countries across the globe.
