THE woman who died in a two-vehicle crash on the A71 has been named.

27-year-old Alana Muir from Darvel was killed in the incident that took place on Thursday, October 17 at 11.05am.

Emergency services were called to the scene, which involved a red Ford Focus Zetec and a silver Mercedes Vito.

A spokesperson for her employers The Railway Inn said: "We are completely shocked and heartbroken to hear of the passing of Alana.

"This girl was the life and soul of any party. She was a beautiful young girl, adored by us as her colleagues & our customers. She had a true heart and helped anyone who needed it. Her infectious smile and huge personality will be sorely missed.

"Alana, you really were one in a million. We send our heartfelt condolences to her family and friends."

Donations are being taken behind the bar to help contribute towards funeral costs for her family. 

A spokesperson for Darvel Bowling Club added: "Our committee & members are devastated at the loss of our barmaid and friend Alana Muir.

"Alana was always eager to help and with her huge personality made such an impact within our club to both members and visitors. We shall sorely miss her cheery, smiling face and the brightness she brought with her.

"We would also like to pass our deepest condolences to her family & friends although words just don’t seem enough."
