AN ICONIC Saltcoats town centre venue is set to re-open after closing nearly a decade ago.

An announcement was made this week that popular bar and restaurant The Flask would be returning later this year.

The Herald understands that the business has been taken over by the same team behind the revival of the Windy Ha bar.

The re-opening was teased as "coming very soon" with the new managers revealing exactly what locals can expect when the Flask makes its return.

The venue first closed just over 10 years ago, in January 2014, shocking many in the community.

It briefly re-opened in the years that followed though the doors have been shut now for around six years.

Prior to closing, The Flask had become one of the town's most popular settings and hosted a number of resident DJs.

The Windmill Street bar became a busy stop for those 'pub crawling' their way through the town - and, of course, was conveniently located almost right on the doorstep of the Metro nightclub.

With the new management team now in place, it is hoped that this "amazing venue" can now be brought back to Saltcoats.

They have also teamed up with Starlight Elite Promotions, in the hope that The Flask can proved "some of the best entertainment in the west of Scotland".

After a new Facebook page was created for the venue, more details were revealed in a statement announcing the comeback.

A spokesperson said: "We have our catering team working behind the scenes also bringing you some new style catering with all the old favourites.

"We will also have some well known faces of days gone by in the Flask making an appearance.

"It’s all go for us but an opening date will be announced this week.

"Our plans are coming along nicely as we work away behind the scenes to bring this amazing venue back to Saltcoats."

Further details are to be posted on The Flask Facebook page.
