AN IRVINE nightclub is hoping to be allowed to welcome more revellers in the near future.

Pitchers Bar and Nightclub is preparing to bring an application the North Ayrshire's licensing board in September.

The Bank Street venue's owners are looking to make a number of changes to their existing premises licence.

Amongst the proposals being brought to the board is the creating of a new "VIP/function room" within the premises.

With this change, business bosses are hoping to increase the current capacity of the club by 100, giving a total capacity of 598.

Pitchers would also be aiming to add this new area to their current operating plan, and to be able to open the club section of the venue from 2pm Thursday-Sunday.

In the application notice available on North Ayrshire Council's website, it appears the main use of this new area would be private, pre-booked functions.

The proposals also look to allow under 18s access to such pre-booked events only.

Notice of their application was published by North Ayrshire Council earlier this month, with locals now welcome to make comments until August 9.

The licensing board will then hear the case at their next meeting on September 9.

Those wishing to support or object to the application should email their correspondence to licensing@north-ayrshire.gov.uk.
