A man has been airlifted to hospital after being seriously assaulted in Girvan.

A 34-year-old man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital after suffering serious injuries in the incident on Wednesday, July 10, which is understood to have involved a blade.

A 38-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is due to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court on Friday, July 12.

Detectives are urging anyone with any information to get in touch with police, adding the serious injuries are not life-threatening.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.45pm on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, police received a report of the serious assault of a 34-year-old man at a property in the Park Road area of Girvan.

“He was conveyed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.

“A 38-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing.

“Anyone with further information on the incident is urged to contact police on 101, quoting incident 2635 of July 11.
