A static parade will take place in Kilmarnock to mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

Organised by the Kilmarnock branch of the Royal British Legion Scotland, the small parade will begin at 10.50am on Thursday, June 6 at the Kilmarnock War Memorial in Elmbank Avenue.

Any veteran who wishes to take part in the event will be made welcome.

The branch is inviting all veterans to attend a gathering before the parade at 9.30am in the Dick Institute across the road, for tea and a chat.

Everyone is welcome to attend the main static parade, and the war memorial will be open afterwards for anyone to leave a token of remembrance.
