Ayrshire College marked International Women’s Day with a special lunch for women in senior roles and for the next generation of talented women across Ayrshire.

The event was an occasion designed to celebrate women and the contributions they make to society and the legacy they leave behind to empower the future generation of women.

Fifty women from across Ayrshire attended the college’s Westerly Restaurant at Ayr Campus on Friday, March 8 to enjoy a fantastic four-course meal prepared and served by students.

Guests included women from Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce, Ayrshire Cancer Support, Ryanair, CenterStage, EGGAR and local councils, along with staff from the college.

Angela Cox, principal and CEO of Ayrshire College, spoke about women’s roles in organisations, especially at leadership level.

Claire Baird, CEO of Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce, encouraged guests to champion women by engaging with the Chambers’ mentoring programme ‘Connect Me’.

After lunch, guests were asked to make a pledge to agree to play a part in ensuring that  future generations of women across Ayrshire are supported and empowered.

Ms Cox said: “I was delighted to host so many inspirational women to celebrate International Women’s Day 2024.

“Ayrshire College is committed to promoting and celebrating diversity, equality and inclusion, so it is encouraging that the Ayrshire community are willing to support each other and our future generation of leaders.”
