Train services across Ayrshire are set to be impacted by Storm Isha on Sunday.

An amber weather alert is in place across the region with strong winds set to hit from around 6pm on Sunday night.

ScotRail has now confirmed that a 40ph speed limit will be placed on all trains in the region for safety reasons.

Services will also end just after 7pm on the Glasgow to Kilmarnock line due to an increased risk from high winds.

A ScotRail spokesperson said: "As a result of this, we will end services early from 7pm on Sunday night on all routes outside the Central Belt, as well as services to/from Fife, Borders, Maryhill, East Kilbride and Kilmarnock.

"A limited service will run on the remaining Central Belt lines, but journeys will take longer as trains will be limited to 40mph for safety reasons.

"Safety checks will need to be made to ensure there is no damage before services resume on Monday along the affected routes."
