Proposals to install floodlights at Kilmaurs Tennis Club for the first time have been given the green light.
The club operates next to the village primary school and has two courts sitting alongside a small clubhouse.
Plans were lodged with East Ayrshire Council in November for six new floodlights that will sit inside the boundary fence to give light to the courts at night.
Each floodlight will be eight metres high and will use asymmetrical beams to minimise light spill into existing properties.
The new lights would be operated by token meters located on a new service cabinet on the clubhouse wall.
No objections were received from nearby residents, and the plan was approved by council officials with conditions.
These include that the lights must only be used up until 9pm and not later to avoid any nuisance to neighbours.
Planning documents state: "The proposed floodlighting will be supporting the existing recreational use and is considered to be an appropriate and common feature within recreational and sports grounds.
"While a new element to the existing use, the proposal is not considered to result in significant and unacceptable impacts upon the existing built environment."
