A proposal for a short-term holiday let flat in Stewarton town centre has been approved.
Plans had been submitted to East Ayrshire Council for a change of use at the three-storey C-listed building at 8b Vennel Street.
The bottom two floors of the building were formerly used as a number of restaurants and nightclubs, but have been vacant for around a year.
The top floor had been used as long term rental accommodation, but will now be used to cater to visitors to the town.
Up to four guests will be permitted in the one-bedroom apartment with includes a modern bathroom and kitchen facilities.
Entry to the property will be via a communal stairwell, and there are 11 parking spaces at the rear of the building for guests to use.
East Ayrshire Council planners approved the change of use, saying the proposals would not have a major impact.
Planning documents state: "The proposal will provide additional holiday accommodation within Stewarton which will help boost local tourism and support the local economy.
"The proposal also ensure and continuing use of the flat which could otherwise remain vacant.
"As part of this proposal no works to the building are proposed and there are therefore no issues arising in relation to overlooking, overshadowing or having an overbearing impact.
"The applicant has also shown that there are 11 off-street car parking spaces associated with the building which the visitors to 8b Vennel Street will be able to utilise."
