A quartet of top Ayrshire pubs have been named in the UK-wide CAMRA Good Beer Guide 2024.

The four Wetherspoon establishments in Prestwick, Irvine, Ayr and Kilmarnock were acclaimed for the quality of their real ale by member's of the region's Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) branch.

The Preswick Pioneer in the town's Main Street, The West Kirk in Ayr's Sandgate, The Wheatsheaf Inn in Kilmarnock's Portland Road and The Auld Brig in Irvine's Rivergate Shopping Centre were all included.

Local branch members chose the Wetherspoon pub following regular visits to check on the quality of the real ales on offer.

They also took into account customer service, décor and overall atmosphere at each of the venues.

A CAMRA spokesman said: “These pubs all deserves their place in the Good Beer Guide 2024.

“It is our belief that if a licensee serves an excellent pint of real ale, then everything else in the pub, including customer service, quality of food and atmosphere, are likely to be of an equally high standard.”
