Police Scotland is hosting an information recruitment evening for those from ethnic minority backgrounds to celebrate Black History Month.

The event will give potential recruits the chance to hear from serving police officers from different backgrounds talk about their experience of the job and answer any questions.

The information session takes place at the Police Scotland Training and Recruitment Centre in Jackton, near East Kilbride, on Thursday, October 5 from 6pm to 9pm.

A police spokesperson said: "We are committed to increasing the number of officers and staff from under-represented groups.

"There are well documented barriers to some people applying to join the police service.

"We therefore run a number of different recruitment events to answer specific questions from people from diverse communities.

"This is to make sure everyone has fair access to the Police Scotland recruitment process."
