A pair of West Kilbride business brothers have kept their father's memory alive by erecting a new clock in his memory outside their shop.

Craig and Alistair Morrow took over the running of their father James's clock and watch repair shop in the village following his sad passing two years ago.

The J Morrow & Son Ltd shop in the village's Ritchie Street opened in 2001, and James kept working in the business until his death aged 81.

Craig says the brothers wanted to create a permament dedication to their father, and thought a clock would be a fitting tribute.

He explained: "There was an old clock originally outside the shop and instead of restoring it we decided to get a new one made.

"We also got a lovely plaque put on it with a dedication to our father, so that everyone who walks by can learn about him.

"He moved to West Kilbride initially 45 years ago and had a shop, before he moved the business down to Saltcoats.

"He came back 22 years ago and opened up the current shop with my brother, and then I joined three years later."

"He was a great loss to our family and also to the business, as he repaired and serviced clocks and watches for the local area for many years ."

Craig reveals that despite his father's sad passing, the business continues to thrive as one of the only clock restorers in the country.

He added: "We are in a fortunate position that we have a lengthy waiting list as this is a trade that very few people do now in Scotland.

"There are two sides to the business with our repair and restoration, and until recently we focussed only on clocks.

"However we have recently started doing watches too and that has been a big success for the business."
